Novel update.

As it stands the novel; The Power of the G'Mahrin, has been delayed somewhat.   Though it currently counts in at 140K+ words. Which is just under twice as much as I had intended for the first in the series.   There's only a couple of chapters until it's ready to publish.   I really wanted to get this out and into the world, though as I've written more the novel's world has developed beyond my expectations and the story line changed a little, which meant a little alteration here or there and completely rewriting some parts.   Once I'm happy you're all going to get the experience I intend you to, I'll publish.    Check out Amazon. Search for: 'The History of Asterea' for the limited edition of the prologue that will be added to the novel as a Prologue and removed from sales upon release of the main novel. 'Power of the G'Mahrin, Teaser Chapter' for insight into the world I've created and developed over the past 15 years. I've ...

Forest of Shadow and Mist

Darkness falls as a mist creeps and rolls A quiet forest, mysteries hiding stories untold From a field far away comes a fox's shriek Shrill and piercing, calling in repeat A startling reply heard a brief moment later Closer than you'd care to wager Tall grass shifts by a wall of loose stone A shadowy figure rises, and in the moonlight shimmers silver, brown and gold Suddenly stopping as if aware of my gaze Suspiciously assessing me, seeing how I behave Darting off into quietly into the night Joining in the hunt for a quick bite All creatures must eat to survive Hunting is a natural part of life Wonderous clear skies above, full of glinting jewels Forming spectacular shapes that provide guidance and tools Winged creatures flit among the pitch black skies Dancing on winds, defying gravity's ties Day-time holds the bluest blues Creatures roam while humans sleep Night-time covers all in a darkened hue Wary of the dangers daytime may keep.

The First Meet - A Dream, or a Vision

My train leaves shortly after I step off onto a platform among a small crowd of strangers. The station fills with the noise of daily commuters and the engines echo through the platforms Stood against a wall you waited, nerves on edge as you spotted me, catching my eyes darting around the station as I stepped off the train, searching. You hide shyly as the crowd neared the walkway. I don't see you at first, and as I wait for people to filter away, I find a bench near the rear of the crowd and sit. The anticipation is unbearable as the last person exits revealing an empty platform, my heart drops as it ponders the possibility you may not appear. I stand and walk towards the waiting rooms, checking inside briefly, I see no one and sit on the bench outside them. Looking down and turning off my music, the headphones around my neck still playing your songs, I see a slender pair of legs silently appear in front of me. The  figure before me blocks the light and casts a shadow that fills me...

Starlight Hill - A Lost Dream

Image
On a starlit night in the height of summer, the moon shines down upon a valley, where, entwined under a blanket we lay together in comfort and peaceful bliss. A cool breeze dances through the valley, washing over and tickling us with a momentary chill, bringing us closer and tighter seeking each other's warmth. Moonlight cascades through the small band of clouds that drift across the sky, casting shadows on an already darkened world. The sounds of wildlife fill the air, creatures once dormant now roam the dark canvas dotted with flickering jewels and a radiant moon chased by a small billow of clouds. We stare into the night and as the moonlight peaks the clouds and the sky opens to us once again. The glimmer of the moonlight catches your skin and the air around you shimmers with an angelic glow, catching and dancing through strands of hair that fall softly around your cheeks. I lift myself and perch at your side. Resting on my arm, my gaze wanders your figure as I admire yo...
